Harvest began on September 19th with a steady pace that continued until the last fruit arrived on October 25th. While the season got off to a later start, veraison occurred only seven days later than the average which gave the fruit the necessary time to ripen perfectly. Flawless conditions ensued during flowering and fruit set which led to higher-than-average yields. The beginning of the year was notably dry however, well-timed rainfall just before bud-break provided the necessary water for canopy development. 1% Malbec, 8% Petit Verdot completes the blend, 17 days skin contact. Harvest 9th September to 12th October (starting off slowly then speeding up as the heat rose). A very classic style, touches of baked vanilla, rosemary and olive. Love the juiciness of this, right off the bat, rich deep black cherry rippling with menthol and eucalyptus notes, and these beautiful floral aromatics that Opus gets in the best years. Medium to full-bodied, the palate is a tightly coiled spring ready to explode, with fantastic tension and wonderfully ripe, very fine-grained tannins, finishing very long with a mineral lift.
